Cam all but guarantees that the draft class will go down as legendary after 1 pick while making cracks about “we need thumbs that go in this direction”.

and of course the first thing he says about taking Ginn over Quinn “I’ve known the Ginn family for 10 years”. Cam might have gotten some of those thumbs up if he hadn’t let his friendship with a family make the pick for him.

Thank god they got the tuna to make the picks or Cam would have pushed for his godson who punts for Oklahoma Panhandle State.

So, Are they Contenders Now?

13 11 2007

After a dominating 34-0 showing against the streaking but one-dimensional Minnesota Vikings, can the Packers finally be considered full-blown contenders? At 7-1, there was still plenty of doubt surrounding this young and often inexperienced team. With only a handful of players over the age of 30, and very few with big game experience, there was good reason for questioning if this team was good enough to be considered as good as their record makes them look. In addition to coaching some of the best teams of all time, Walsh was one of a select group that can say they changed the game of football significantly.

Very sad news. Our thoughts go out to his family.

Fantasy Football, How to win it all: Tips & Tricks

25 06 2007

Another year of fantasy football and by gosh am I ready. I’ve already a 12-13 sheet excel document portraying who I want to pick in each round and in what order I would pick them in. I’ve been hardcore into fantasy football ever since 2 years ago, when I disinterestedly joined a league with my friends from school and ended up winning it all with a 13-1 regular season record. Last year I didn’t do so well going 8-6 and missing the playoffs, but I’ve learned a few things about what to do on draft day and what not to do.

NFL Offseason rankings

21 06 2007

Written by lebronjames23

It’s been a very busy and interesting offseason (to say the least) in the NFL, with money draft day selections, big trades, and huge contracts. Here are the top and bottom three teams in the offseason:

Top 3:

1. New England Patriots: I really wanted to be original here and put someone else, but I really had no other choice. The best team in the league got so much better in these short few months that they are already a Super Bowl favorite in my eyes. If Tom Brady can throw for 24 TD 12 INT with a 62% completion percentage with receivers like Reche Caldwell, Troy Brown, Jabar Gaffney, and Chad Jackson, imagine what the future Hall of Famer can do with the likes of Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth, and Wes Welker. Let’s not kid ourselves; Moss and Stallworth do come with some baggage. Moss comes with the obvious character and injury concerns and Stallworth has had trouble remaining healthy over the past few years. But if Randy Moss can return to even half of what he was, he will be better than any of the receivers they had last year. Couple this with Stallworth’s hopeful health and Wes Welker’s always solid production and you have an amazing receiving core to help lead you to a Super Bowl.

Now to the defensive side of the ball. The Patriots made one of the biggest signings in the league in Adalius Thomas. If Adalius went to any other team than New England, I would have said that he would be a disappointment and a bust. However, what makes the New England Patriots such a good and dangerous team is their ability to utilize players in any scheme. They will put a player as a down lineman then the next play have him as a standing linebacker. There were questions if they could have the same success without Romeo Crennel and Charlie Weis but they answered those questions last year with a successful season. The addition of Brandon Merriweather can only help a somewhat aging secondary, not to mention they also got the 49ers 1st round pick in next year’s draft. Now if they can just get this Asante Samuel situation figured out….

LaVar Arrington seriously hurt in motorcycle accident

18 06 2007

http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/giants/ny-splavar0619,0,6632064.story?coll=ny-sports-headlines

Media outlets in Washington have reported that former Giants linebacker LaVar Arrington was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident Monday near Washington’s Capital Beltway.

Fire officials told the WTOP Radio that Arrington was listed in serious condition, but no other details about the injuries were immediately available.

According to WUSA-TV, the former No. 2 overall draft pick in 2000 was driving his motorcycle on the Rt. 50 off-ramp to the Beltway when the crash occurred. The location of the crash is less than two miles from FedEx Field near Landover, Md., where Arrington played for the Washington Redskins for the first six years of his career.

WUSA reported that Arrington’s injuries are not life-threatening, and that his wife and other relatives had joined him at Prince George’s Hospital Center in Cheverly, Md.

Arrington signed a seven-year, $49-million deal with Giants last summer, but the team released him in February after he had played just six games. Arrington’s season ended on Oct. 23 when he tore his Achilles tendon against Dallas. Let’s hope he’ll recover
